16 years at the Larmer Tree Gardens 2022-2025 (part 2)

16 years at the Larmer Tree Gardens 2022-2025 (part 2)

I decided to split this post it two for a few reasons (if you’ve not yet read part one, I recommend starting there). The year 2022 was a major turning point for me creatively. During the pandemic I had learnt a lot and was hungry to get going again and try new things – take creative risks. I was using new equipment and began to favour two camera bodies with two fixed prime lenses – an 85mm and a 35mm. This approach helped carve out a strong and consistent look to my work, I felt like a now had a consistent ‘style’ to my work. The colour palette for my editing also changed at this time and my new website was now live. It was a lot of change! When you compare part 1 with part 2, I’m sure you’ll see the difference. This year was also a big change for the wedding team at LT.

If you’re searching for a Larmer Tree wedding photographer, or Larmer Tree wedding photography, then look no further.

2022

The year 2022 was my busiest ever at the gardens with five weddings! This first wedding is one of my all-time favourites I’ve ever photographed at this wedding venue. Below are 20 highlights (it was a job to get it down to 20!).

If you’re going to throw your bouquet, a little recommend from me is to do it outside on the lawn – it makes for a great picture!

I think the image below is a contender for my all-time favourite photograph captured at the Larmer Tree Gardens. It was an original idea from me and I still remember the feeling when I saw the preview on the back of the camera – I’d nailed it!

Let’s move onto another beautiful wedding from this year. If you’re having your wedding ceremony elsewhere, travelling to the Gardens, with all your guests, by vintage red bus is a great option.

I then stopped with the couple on the drive to capture some bride and groom portraits.

These guys had crazy golf on the lawn during the drinks reception. Time and again this is my favourite part of the day.

I picked out these three bride and groom portraits that also show-off two of the follies – the Roman Temple and Singing Theatre.

And then party in the Jubilee Hall.

Let’s look at some of the other weddings this year. Pre-ceremony bridal prep at the King John’s House makes for such an interesting back-drop. I love this one of the bride and her two bridesmaids sheltering in the entrance way.

The light for an indoor ceremony can be challenging but yields the results when you know the space well.

Have you ever seen a hora on the dance floor? I hadn’t experienced one before this!

After all these years, an outdoor wedding ceremony at the Roman Temple followed by a drinks reception on the main lawn, followed with live music on the Singing Theatre is the best combo in my opinion.

Breakfast, speeches, and then back out onto the lawn for the evening sun-down.

2023

I added to the camera arsenal this year and began to photograph with a drone. The new vantage point really adds to the delivery giving context to the story of the day. Let’s begin with bridal prep at King John’s House:

The drone again providing that new vantage point and giving context to the day as it unfolds. The Roman Temple is also sporting its newly cleaned roof. That confetti exit backdrop is hard to beat!

Well timed, and unobtrusive, candids during the drinks reception.

Did I mention golden-hour at this venue?!

Finishing off with a few photos from the evening party:

2024

A few more stunning aerial views of the Gardens:

I love these two images taken on the Singing Theatre. The height from the stage allowed for the full drop of the bridal train.

A game of rounders on the lawn in the evening, after all the formalities of the wedding breakfast have concluded, is a big recommend from me.

As are s’mores and pizza on the Terrace after dark.

2025

The Pavilion looking resplendent with the new wooden chairs.

The grounds look stunning from the air:

For the final wedding showcase on the two part blog post, I pulled out 28 images initially. It was so difficult to whittle it down further.  This 2025 wedding at the Larmer Tree Gardens was one of my favourite ever! Robyn & Paddy, you guys rocked!

Let’s start with a few images that highlight the unique beauty of this venue (I love the deck chairs lined-up along the Sining Theatre).

This day had the dream recipe for a spectacular day at the Gardens. First, arriving to the venue basking in sunshine:

An outdoor ceremony at the Roman Temple:

Alfresco speeches:

A handful of gorgeous bride & groom portraits strolling through the grounds:

And on the Singing Theatre:

And then a golden hour of all golden hours:

Finishing-off with a fun packed night:

As you can probably tell, I’m passionate about this venue. For me, it’s where it all began. I also want to say a big thank you to the current wedding team – Amy, Francesca and Lauren – you guys make this job an absolute pleasure. A big thank you also to all the catering team at Forking Out.

Here’s to the weddings coming up at the Larmer Tree this year, next year, and beyond.
